Container ports worldwide are facing numerous challenges: Ultra-large container ships need new, efficient concepts for faster loading and unloading. Higher transshipment volumes demand significantly more warehouse capacity and at the same time more terminal space. The productivity and cost-effectiveness of all operating processes are important indicators in global competition.
AMOVA’s disruptive innovation for container terminals is setting new standards for the future. Our high-bay store (HBS) solution leads to massive space-saving in expensive port areas, significantly reduced berth times for container ships and enormous cost savings. The system consists of an automatic high-bay warehouse with 11 storage levels and flexible interfaces for waterside and landside loading. Compared to conventional solutions, the system offers more than three times the storage capacity on the same area.
We have successfully transferred our decades of know-how in the field of high-bay warehouses for heavy loads to the application in container terminals - as the first company worldwide. This technology is now being implemented by BOXBAY - a joint venture between the global port operator DP World and SMS group/AMOVA, which is currently installing the world's first HBS system at Jebel Ali Terminal 4 in Dubai.
